Notes

Popup Windows
Late Nite Labs' REACTOR software loads into a pop-up browser window to maximize the amount of screen real estate. Some browser tools and settings exist that block pop-up windows from being opened and therefore prevent REACTOR from loading. Pop-up blockers must be turned off or configured prior to running the lab simulations.

Click here to learn more about how to disable popup blocking.

Personal Firewalls
Some Personal Firewall programs can prevent JavaScript from functioning correctly in your browser. REACTOR uses JavaScript code for a number of tasks and therefore it is recommended that these programs be temporarily disabled or reconfigured. These programs also often include pop-up blockers which may have to be turned off separately.

Click here to learn more about configuring Personal Firewalls.

Javascript
Javascript is a browser technology that allows Late Nite Labs' REACTOR to communicate with the database that holds all the chemical elements, reactions and other application data. Javascript must be enabled in the browser settings.

How to enable JavaScript in your web browser.

Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x (for Windows):

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  3. In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
  4. Click Custom level button at bottom right. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.

  6. Check radio boxes.
  7. Click OK twice to close out.

Adobe Flash
The Adobe Flash™ Player is a browser plugin that enables animations and rich media to be displayed by the browser. Late Nite Labs' REACTOR software uses Adobe Flash to create realistic and engaging reproductions of real-life laboratory environment, labware and procedures.

The latest Adobe Flash Player can be obtained by clicking the 'Get Adobe Flash Player' button below and following the on-screen directions.

Browser Cookies
Cookies are pieces of information generated by a Web server and stored in the user's computer, ready for future access. Cookies are embedded in the HTML information flowing back and forth between the user's computer and the servers. These text files are harmless to the computer that they are written to and cannot contain or spread malicious content or viruses. However, due to the fact that a third party is writing to the hard disk of the user's computer, the acceptance of cookies is an optional feature that is set in the preferences of the browser.

Late Nite Labs' REACTOR software requires that the browser is set to accept cookies.

Enabling Cookies

From the Tools menu option of your Internet Explorer browser, select Internet Options (this is also available from Control Panel)

Select the Privacy tab of the Internet Options and adjust the slider until the 'Medium' option is selected. Press Apply to complete the operation and then press OK to close the Internet Options window.

Screen Resolution
The term "screen resolution" refers to the number of individual pixels that fit within a given space. A resolution setting of 1024x768 means that the computer monitor can display up to 1024 pixels horizontally and 768 vertically. This setting can be changed by the user to allow a greater or lesser viewing area.

The required screen resolution for viewing the Late Nite Labs' REACTOR is 1024 x 768.

Changing Screen Resolution

From the Control Panel of your PC, select the Display option and then click the Settings tab from the Display dialog box.

Look for the 'Screen resolution' adjuster. The method of adjusting the resolution will differ from PC to PC, but you should be able to select different settings depending on your monitor and hardware setup.

Late Nite Labs requires a resolution setting of 1024 by 768 and recommends a 32 bit Color quality setting as seen in the image opposite.
